130 million out-of school children aged 6-11 - about 60 percent of them are girls. 64 percent of illiterate adults are women. Today over 862 million adults are illiterate

 

How to Donate

You can participate in this project by donating new or used (in very good condition) books and stationary and providing monetary donations for shipping and handling. 

If you have at least 200 books and live in Washington DC Metro area, we will arrange to come to your house or office to pick them up, preferably in a weekend.  Please, remember, the books should be in excellent condition! To arrange a pick-up, send us an email keepread@aol.com stating that you have books to donate. Please include your phone number and we will call you as soon as we could arrange a pick-up.  You can also call us directly at 703-723-4466.

Now we are collecting used eye glasses.  If you have one, please donate for this worthly cost.

Note:  Pick-ups are currently available to a limited area in and around Washington DC. Please specify your location and we will let you know if we serve your area.

 

 

Where Does Your Donation Go?

  • Provide a gifted, needy child a chance to have a book of his own.  Let them have a small school library with English Books. 
  • Provide them must-needed computers to enter the 21st century.  Give them a chance to see the world through the Internet. 
  • Keep Reading Foundation was able to donate over 80% of EVERY donated dollar to rural children in Sri Lanka (current focus country)
