Encourage and support educators in their efforts to promote literacy
Recognize contributions and achievements in the area of literacy
Sponsor programs, meetings, tours and conferences on reading
Promote literacy development among student and adult population to ensure that each person becomes a full contributor to the society
Provide leadership and support to establish community and school libraries
Promote use of libraries to stimulate the awareness, individual enlightenment, community enrichment, and economic vitality
Promote mutual understanding and cooperative work between the different ethnic, religion and cultural at all levels who desire reading
Use education, specifically English, as a link language and a vehicle to bring children and adults from all ethnics
Develop an appreciation for the value of reading
Promote the formation to stimulate the love of reading as a lifelong habit
